Why is CFA Level II so much harder than Level I?

The knowledge burden rises, but that is not the main shift. Level II tests whether you can find the relevant information inside a wall of it. The question no longer tells you what it is testing, so reading discipline starts to matter as much as recall, and almost nobody practises reading discipline deliberately.

How do you answer CFA vignette questions?

Read the vignette before the questions. Mark what is load bearing. Expect at least one detail to be there purely to mislead you. Candidates who read the questions first tend to hunt for keywords and get caught by the distractor that was planted for exactly that behaviour.

Is this a replacement for a teaching provider?

No. The official curriculum and providers like Kaplan Schweser or Wiley teach the material. This is a practice and diagnostic pack for the phase after that. At $69 it is priced as a complement, not a substitute, and it will be a poor purchase if you have not worked through the curriculum yet.
